Dilophosauridae is a taxonomic family in the suborder Theropoda. It includes the first large carnivorous dinosaurs. It existed from late Triassic until the early Jurassic. The dinosaurs in the Dilophosauridae family are well known for their distinctive head crests. The use of the crests is unknown. At first it only included Dilophosaurus. Later Dracovenator and Zupaysaurus were added.
