Genus Pseudobactrites

Pseudobactrites is a bactritid genus that lived during the Middle Permian.

Pseudobactrites is similar to Bactrites but has differentiated growth lines. The shell has a linguiform (tongue-shape) ventral and pair of rounded lateral sinuses - for the hydrojet and eyes. Also a dorsal sinus. The suture forms prominent ventro-lateral and dorso-lateral saddles. As with all bactritids the siphuncle is ventral and narrow.

Pseudobactrites, an offshoot of Bactrites, named by Ferronniere, 1921, also goes by Bojobactrites Horny, 1957. Type, P. bicarinatus. Its fossils have been found in France, central Europe, and Turkey.
