African and European Proboscidean. It was a gomphothere "shovel-tusker." It had tusks and a trunk. It lived during the Miocene Epoch, and may have evolved from Amebelodon.
Serbelodon is an extinct genus ofIn 1933, Serbelodon burnhami (now Amebelodon burnhami) was newly discovered and named after the celebrated scout Frederick Russell Burnham.[1]
